Job Title: Accountant

Job Summary: The Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing financial operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance with governmental regulations. This role involves preparing financial statements, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring accurate accounting practices to support the municipality's fiscal health.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, analyze, and maintain accurate financial statements and reports in compliance with governmental accounting standards.
• Manage the municipal budget, including forecasting revenues and expenditures, monitoring budget performance, and preparing budget amendments.
• Process and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other financial transactions.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including preparing for and assisting with audits.
• Monitor and report on financial performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
• Provide financial information and support to department heads and municipal officials as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for all financial activities.
